What is an administrative endorsement, and why might I receive one?

It’s a short document that corrects a small detail on your policy — with no change to your coverage.

An administrative endorsement is a short document we attach to your existing Padder policy to correct a small administrative detail like a spelling or an address, so your policy records stay accurate. Importantly, it doesn’t change your coverage, your premium, or your responsibilities in any way.

Why you might receive one

We may issue an administrative endorsement to fix things such as:

  • A misspelling in your name
  • A correction to your policy’s effective date so it matches your lease start date (fixing a date that was recorded in error)
  • An address or unit number correction (in some cases — see below)
  • Other small typos or detail corrections in your policy documents

What it doesn’t change

An administrative endorsement only corrects the detail noted on it. It never changes:

  • Your coverage or limit of insurance
  • Your premium
  • The length of your coverage, or your obligations under the policy

A date correction simply lines your documents up with your lease, it won’t extend or shorten the coverage you purchased.

When an endorsement isn’t the right fix

An endorsement is only for small administrative corrections. If something about your lease or living situation has genuinely changed rather than simply being recorded incorrectly, our team will need to review it first.

  • If you’ve moved, or your lease details have changed, contact us and we’ll let you know whether it can be handled with an endorsement or needs a closer look.
  • Either way, reach out and we’ll guide you through the right next steps.

Do I need to do anything?

  • No, an administrative endorsement is for your records only. There’s nothing to sign or action; just keep it with your policy documents.
  • If a detail still looks wrong after you receive it, let us know and we’ll sort it out. Contact Padder support.

Who issues it

  • Your endorsement is issued by the Insurance Company of Prince Edward Island (ICPEI), through its authorized representative, Padder Underwriting Inc.
