Credit checks, SIN, and your score

Padder uses soft credit checks only and gives you control over what you share. Here’s how it works and what it means for your credit.

When you apply for Padder Guarantor or Padder Deposit, Padder may run a soft credit check through a credit bureau (Equifax).

  • A soft check does not affect your credit score.

We use this information to:

  • Confirm we’re looking at the right credit file, and
  • Help assess whether the rent is reasonable relative to your financial profile.

Why we ask for your SIN

During the application, you may be asked to provide your Social Insurance Number (SIN).

  • Providing your SIN is optional.
  • If you choose not to provide it, you can still apply—you may just be asked for extra documents or experience slower processing.

When you do provide your SIN, it helps Padder:

  • Accurately match your profile at the credit bureau.
  • Speed up your approval by making the soft credit check more reliable.
