How long does approval take?

For most renters, the process is pretty quick:

Typical timelines

For most renters, the process is pretty quick:

  • Application time: Usually under 15 minutes if you have your documents ready.
  • Decision time: Once all applicants and documents are complete, Padder typically reviews your file and issues a decision within 24 business hours.

That applies to both Padder Guarantor and Padder Deposit (standalone), though Guarantor applications can take slightly longer if there are multiple roommates or a responsible party involved.

Impact of incomplete applications or missing documents

Delays almost always come down to incomplete information, for example:

  • One or more roommates hasn’t finished their part of the application
  • Required documents are missing, blurry, or outdated
  • Income, savings, or immigration documents don’t match what was entered in the form
  • We’ve asked for clarification and haven’t heard back

Padder can’t issue a final decision or quote until:

  • Every required application is completed, and
  • The documents are clear enough to underwrite your application.

If something is missing, we’ll email you to tell you exactly what’s needed so you’re not guessing.

What to do if you haven’t heard back

If it’s been more than 24 business hours since:

  • All applicants finished their sections, and
  • All requested documents were uploaded,

you should:

  1. Check your email (and spam/junk)
    1. Look for messages from Padder asking for more information or clarifying something in your file.
  2. Contact Padder support
    1. Visit Our Help Centre and request an application status update from Paddie, our chatbot.
    2. Paddie can confirm whether:
      1. Your file is still in review,
      2. We’re waiting on something from you or a roommate, or
      3. A decision has already been issued.

If everything is complete, you should have a decision in about a day. If it’s taking longer, it’s usually a signal that something is still outstanding and needs a quick clean-up.
