How can roommates split the cost?
One policy per lease; shared cost
Padder works on a “one policy per lease” model:
- There is one Padder Guarantor or Padder Deposit policy per lease, not per person.
- The total premium is for the whole household, so roommates can decide how to share the cost between themselves.
How you divide it is up to you and your roommates.
How to split payment between cards / people
Padder uses HubSpot Payments, which allows partial payments on the invoice (quote) you receive.
You have two options:
Option 1 – One person pays, then settles up internally
- One roommate pays the full premium on their own.
- Roommates then reimburse that person directly.
- This path can help avoid delays from multiple people trying to pay at different times.
Option 2 – Multiple people pay using the same invoice
- The same Padder invoice link can be used to make multiple partial payments until the full amount is covered.
- Each roommate can pay their share using their own card through the same payment link.
- The policy is only activated once the full premium has been paid.
Receipts for each payer
- When one person pays in full, the payment receipt is issued to that payer.
- They can share a copy with their roommates as needed.
- When multiple roommates make partial payments via the invoice:
- Each payer will receive a confirmation/receipt for the amount they personally paid (using the email they entered at checkout).
If anyone needs an updated summary receipt showing the total premium and payment status, they can contact Padder support.
