How can roommates split the cost?

One policy per lease, one premium — here's how roommates share the cost.

Padder works on a "one policy per lease" model: there's one Padder Guarantor or Padder Deposit policy for the whole lease, not one per person. The premium covers the whole household, so how you divide it between roommates is up to you.

How payment works

The premium is paid once for the lease by the primary applicant — the person who started the application. Roommates aren't billed separately at checkout.

So splitting the cost happens between you and your roommates, not through separate payments to Padder:

  • The primary applicant pays the full premium.
  • Roommates then reimburse the primary applicant directly for their share.

Deciding shares ahead of time — and settling up once the primary applicant has paid — keeps things simple and avoids any delay in activating your policy.

Receipts

The payment receipt is issued to the primary applicant, who can share a copy with roommates as needed. If anyone needs an updated summary showing the total premium and payment status, contact Padder support.
