Someone else is paying my rent — whose information goes on the application?
It depends on one thing: whether they'll be a tenant on the lease.
Short answer: Apply as yourself and enter your own information. What happens with the person paying comes down to whether they'll be on the lease.
If the person paying will be a tenant on the lease
They should apply too. Add them to your application as a roommate so they receive an email invite to complete their own portion. Padder uses one policy per lease, so everyone on the lease applies together under the same policy.
If they're only helping pay and won't be on the lease
Complete your application with your own details only. You don't need to enter their income or add them upfront. If our team needs anything from your financial backer after reviewing your application, we'll treat them as a responsible party and request their information then; we'll email you exactly what's needed.
Either way: apply as yourself first. You never need to put someone else's income in place of your own.
